Today is the fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook School shooting. It is with much sadness that we remember this day and event, and we offer our heartfelt sympathies to the families and the community who lost their loved children and family members.
Since the Sandy Hook shooting, 160 schools have experienced a school shooting. The Brady Campaign also reports that one in five kids and teens in the U.S. has witnessed a shooting. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that gun violence is the second leading cause of death for American children.
As the violence continues, Aspiring Families is trying to help hundreds of young, traumatized children who have witnessed a shooting death by distributing 1,000 FREE copies of Dr. Maker’s new therapeutic children’s book, Where Did My Friend Go? to help children cope with a traumatic death. The purpose of the book is to help kids better understand and cope with their loss, confusion, and fears associated with the shooting.
We would like to invite you to be a central part of this project and help support kids in Detroit, Chicago, L.A,. N.Y., and other high risk cities across the U.S. by donating to our Indiegogo Generosity Community book distribution project. If you are local, in San Diego of course we welcome you to our support groups as well.
We have already raised over 50% of our goal, and we hope to have a larger community join us in helping get this book to the kids who need it most. It takes a village to raise a child. Thank you for your consideration and support.
